Terms

Terms of use

The terms for using this site and buying from us, written plainly.

These are the terms for using cardimaging.com and for buying from Card Imaging. They are written plainly on purpose. Nothing here is designed to catch you out.

Card Imaging is a family business at 2400 Davey Rd, Unit B, Woodridge, Illinois 60517. When this page says "we" or "us" it means Card Imaging, and "you" means whoever is using the site or buying from us.

Using this site

You are welcome to read, print and share anything here for your own use, including sending a specification page to a colleague or a purchasing department. That is what it is for.

What we ask you not to do is copy the site wholesale onto another site, scrape it to build a competing catalog, or present our writing as your own. The words, layout and photography here are ours or licensed to us.

Product information, and where it comes from

The specifications on this site come from manufacturer documentation and from four decades of working with these machines. We check them and we correct them when we find something wrong.

Manufacturers do change specifications, discontinue parts and revise part numbers without telling their dealers first. So while we work hard to keep this accurate, we cannot promise every figure on every page is current at the moment you read it. If a specification matters to your decision, tell us and we will confirm it against the current documentation before you order.

Images are representative. A bundle photograph may show items that are not in the configuration you are ordering, which is another good reason to confirm with us on anything expensive.

Prices and availability

Prices can change, and stock moves. A price shown on this site is not a binding offer until we confirm it on a quote or an order.

We will not spring a price change on you after you have committed. If something has changed between your quote and your order, we will tell you and you can decide.

Ordering

Orders reach us in several ways. Many of our products are listed on Amazon and the buy links here take you there, in which case Amazon handles the transaction under their terms and their returns policy, not ours. Other orders come to us directly by phone or through a quote.

Where you buy determines who you deal with for payment, delivery and returns. If you are not sure which applies to your order, ask us.

Custom and programmed products cannot be returned

This is the most important thing on this page, so it gets its own section.

Cards and credentials that we program or personalize for you are made for your organization alone. A card encoded to your facility code and card number range is of no use to anybody else and cannot be returned to stock or resold.

Because of that, custom-programmed and personalized products are not returnable, exchangeable or refundable. Please check your facility code, format and number range carefully before confirming, because once those cards are made they are yours.

If you are unsure what your facility code or format is, stop and ask us before ordering. We would far rather spend ten minutes on the phone working it out than have you sitting on a box of cards that will not open your doors. If you have an existing box of cards, the information we need is usually printed on it.

Stock items that have not been programmed or personalized are a different matter. Talk to us and we will sort it out sensibly.

Repairs and service

We are an authorized service center and we repair printers on our own bench in Woodridge.

Before we do chargeable work we will tell you what is wrong and what it will cost. We will not run up a bill and present it afterwards. If a machine turns out not to be worth repairing, we will say so plainly, even though that is the answer that earns us less.

Please back up anything you need from a machine before sending it in. Repair work can involve resetting firmware or replacing components, and we cannot guarantee that settings, templates or stored data survive a repair.

Where a repair is covered by a manufacturer warranty, the manufacturer's terms govern what is and is not covered.

Warranties

Printers, ribbons and cards carry the warranty offered by the manufacturer that made them. Those warranties belong to the manufacturer and we pass them through; we do not add to them or take away from them.

Manufacturer warranties usually depend on the machine being cleaned and maintained as the manufacturer specifies, and several of them are void if non-genuine consumables are used. This is not a sales tactic on our part, it is written into their warranty terms, and we would rather you heard it from us before it costs you a printhead.

Beyond a manufacturer's warranty, products are supplied as they are. We do not make separate promises about fitness for a particular purpose, which is exactly why we would rather spec the thing with you properly at the start.

Other companies' trademarks

HID, FARGO, iCLASS, Seos, Evolis, Primacy, Zenius, Magicard, Zebra and other brand and product names on this site are the trademarks of their respective owners. We use them to identify the products we sell, supply and service, and to describe what our compatible products work with.

Where we describe a product as compatible with another manufacturer's equipment, that is a statement about what it works with. It is not a claim that the item was made by that manufacturer, and we label our own house-brand compatible products as ours.

Links to other sites

We link to manufacturer datasheets, driver downloads, product listings and support documentation elsewhere on the internet, because sending you to the source is more useful than making you take our word for it. Those sites are not ours and we do not control what they publish or how they operate.

Limits on our liability

We will do our job properly, and if we get something wrong we will put it right. What we cannot accept is open-ended liability for consequential losses well beyond the value of what you bought.

To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim connected with a product or service is limited to what you paid us for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost business, lost time, or the cost of a delay.

Nothing here is intended to limit any right you have that cannot be limited under Illinois or federal law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, and any dispute belongs in the state or federal courts serving DuPage County, Illinois.

Changes to these terms

We may update this page as the business changes. The version published here is the one that applies. Changes are not retroactive: the terms that applied when you ordered are the terms that govern that order.

Talk to us first

If something has gone wrong, call us before anything else. Four decades of doing this has taught us that almost everything is fixable by two people talking, and we would much rather sort a problem out than argue about a clause on a web page.
