Wiegand
A common data format and wiring standard used between access card readers and controllers.
Wiegand describes how a reader sends card data to the controller. Most prox formats are expressed in Wiegand bit counts.
Wiegand is the long-standing language readers use to send card data to a controller, which is why prox formats are described by their Wiegand bit count (26-bit, 37-bit, and so on). Even modern readers often still output Wiegand for compatibility.
