NFC

Near-field communication, a 13.56 MHz standard for tap interactions with phones and readers.

NFC lets smartphones and readers exchange data with a tap. Many contactless credentials are NFC-compatible.

NFC is the tap technology in smartphones, and it runs at the same 13.56 MHz as many contactless cards, which is what makes phone-based credentials possible. Whether a phone can open your door depends on your reader and credential platform supporting mobile.
