Find the ribbon that fits your printer

A card printer ribbon is not a generic part. Each one is cut, spooled and chipped for one printer family, so the Magicard MD100YMCKO that runs in a Pronto 100 will not load in a Magicard 300, which takes the MC300YMCKO. Match the printer first, then the part number.

The model name is printed on the front of the machine. If yours is worn off, the printer finder will get you there, or call and read us the serial number.

What YMCKO and monochrome mean

YMCKO is a full-color ribbon and the letters are the panels in order: yellow, magenta and cyan lay down the photo and the color artwork, K prints solid black for text and barcodes, and O is a clear overlay panel that seals the finished card so it survives a lanyard and a pocket. YMCK drops the overlay, because a retransfer printer lays its own film over the top instead.

Monochrome and resin ribbons print a single color, usually black. They cost far less per card and they are the right answer for text-only badges, visitor passes and pre-printed card stock.

Print yield per roll

Yield is on every listing and it moves more than people expect. The Magicard MD100YMCKO gives 100 prints a roll, the common YMCKO rolls for the Magicard 300, Magicard 600 and Evolis Primacy 2 give 300, and the Fargo 84900 transfer film for the HDP6600 gives 1,500. Divide your yearly badge count by the yield before you order, and remember a failed card still burns a panel set.

If you know the machine, skip the filters: Evolis Primacy 2, Evolis Zenius 2, Magicard 300, Magicard 600, Magicard Pronto 100, Fargo DTC4500e, Fargo HDP5000, Fargo HDP6600. Each of those pages lists the ribbons, the film and the cleaning kit for that one printer.
